Deep Dive Lecoq with Emma Dingwall is an intensive practice acting class that focusses on your own imagination and voice based on the work of Lecoq.

Taught by Emma Dingwall, an actor, coach and voice-over artist, who studied for three years at LAMDA and later for two years with Jacques Lecoq himself in Paris.

Jacques Lecoq said: In life I want students to be alive, and on stage to be artists.

This course explores the actor as an artist, diving into improvisation, physical theatre, scene study and writing and devising your own work.

Lecoq started with the human body in space, ‘Tout bouge’ – everything moves, everything changes. As an actor your physicality, your body, is your most important tool. Everything – emotion, voice, interpretation – comes through your body.

The seven classes cover various aspects of physicality in performance, inhabiting a role and creating a piece of theatre.

Inspiration is drawn from film scripts, theatre scenes, poetry, painting, the external world and, most importantly, your life experiences.

The course ends with a performance of the work created during the course.

The in-depth class is for students who have some experience of physical theatre, writing your own material or the work of Lecoq
